chief minister Bhagwant Mann has given a clean chit to former Chief Secretary of the state Anirudh Tiwari in the matter of lapse in security of prime minister Narendra Modi in punjab on january 5, 2022. The supreme court had formed a committee regarding the case which convicted Anirudh Tiwari. According to Hindustan Times report, the central government is waiting for the report regarding action against the guilty officials and Union home Secretary Rajiv Bhalla has already sent three reminders to the punjab government. At the same time, the punjab government has so far taken action and suspended only seven police officers. This incident took place in the state when the chief minister was Charanjit Singh Channi and there was a congress government.
A 4-page note was sent to cm in May
Along with this, it has also been revealed in the report that in response to the reminder from the Centre, former Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Jaunja had sent a 4-page note to the chief minister for action against Anirudh Tiwari in the month of May. Apart from this, when an officer posted in the Chief Minister's office asked for an answer from Anirudh Tiwari, he put the entire blame on the punjab police and said that the Chief Secretary's office does not maintain a blue book. The Blue Book prescribes protocols for visits by the prime minister and other dignitaries.
The panel formed by the supreme court had convicted
The panel headed by retired supreme court judge Indu Malhotra had convicted Anirudh Tiwari in the case. The panel found that he did not depute any official to travel with the Prime Minister's convoy. He was the officer responsible for coordination with the central government for the Prime Minister's visit.
