Calls coming in the name of the telecom department?
The Central Department of Telecommunication has issued an advisory to mobile phone users on Friday. The Department of Telecommunication has said that some people are calling customers in the name of their department and threatening to disconnect their mobile numbers because they are involved in illegal activities. All of them are fake calls. They are advised to report them immediately.
It has been clarified to be vigilant about such calls. Some are committing fraud in the name of the telecom department. The Department of Telecommunication has warned that with such calls, cybercriminals steal users' personal information and commit online fraud.
Moreover, the Department of Telecom clarified that they have not given responsibility to anyone to make such calls on behalf of their department. The Department of Telecom has made it clear in its advisory that people should be alert about these calls and not share any information. The Department of Telecom has requested the users to immediately report these fraudulent calls on their official website www.sancharsaathi.gov.in.
Users can know about their connections by going to the 'Know Your mobile Connection' option on this Sanchar Sathi portal, it said. If you have already been victimized by these cyber frauds, the Department of Telecom has suggested that you call the helpline number 1930 or report on the website www.cybercrime.gov.in.
