After the accident in which four passengers died and nine others were injured after falling from two crowded local trains, maharashtra navnirman sena (MNS) president Raj thackeray said that the migration of a large number of migrants from other states to mumbai is responsible for the 'destruction' of the railway infrastructure.
thackeray also questioned the legitimacy of the demand for providing automatic doors in local trains in view of the crowd of passengers. It is noteworthy that nationalist congress party (Sharad Chandra Pawar) president sharad pawar has appealed to the Central Railway administration to implement measures like installing automatic doors in suburban trains in view of the crowd.
'Everyone is busy campaigning'
"The railway infrastructure has collapsed due to the influx of people from outside (Mumbai) but everyone is busy campaigning," thackeray told reporters in Pune. Prima facie, it appears that four people were killed and nine others injured after falling off a train between Diva and Kopar railway stations during the morning rush hour when the bags of passengers standing on the footboard of two local trains headed in opposite directions collided with each other.
Traffic jams common in cities: raj Thackeray
"Everyday there are accidents related to local trains. This is not just about railways. There is chaos in all our cities. The roads are not good and traffic jams are common in many cities, including mumbai and Pune. If there is a fire, fire engines are not able to reach on time," thackeray said. He evaded questions about talks of a possible reconciliation between his MNS and the shiv sena (Uttar Pradesh) led by his cousin uddhav Thackeray.
'Is it possible to install automatic doors in local trains'
He asked, "Instead of speculating on when Raj thackeray and uddhav thackeray will unite, why don't news channels ask questions about the deaths in train accidents? Is the curve on that railway route (Diva and Kopar) new? Is it possible to install automatic doors in local trains?" According to initial reports, some passengers fell off the train when two local trains were passing through a sharp curve on the Diva and Kopar route in opposite directions. thackeray also questioned the results of foreign visits of ministers and leaders. He said, "At least bring some ideas after visiting foreign countries."
