The Uttar Pradesh government has rolled out another major initiative to strengthen higher education and generate employment. The cabinet has approved 948 new posts across three newly established universities, marking a strong push toward academic excellence and youth empowerment.

Let’s break down this important development into key highlights.

The Three New Universities in Focus

The government’s decision will benefit three newly set-up universities in Uttar Pradesh:

  • Guru Jambheshwar University (Moradabad)
  • Maa Vindhyavasini University (Mirzapur)
  • Maa Pateshwari University (Balrampur)

These institutions are envisioned as hubs of modern education, research, and skill development. Strengthening their workforce is a crucial step in making them fully functional.

 Total 948 Posts Approved

The cabinet approved a total of 948 posts, divided into two categories:

  • 468 Non-Teaching Posts (temporary, till Feb 2026)
  • 480 Outsourced Posts

This dual model ensures that critical administrative and support functions are quickly staffed, while also creating opportunities for youth across multiple skill levels.

468 Non-Teaching Posts for Strong Administration

Each university will receive 156 non-teaching posts. These roles are vital for running the universities efficiently and include positions such as:

  • Pharmacists & Medical Officers
  • Electricians & junior Engineers
  • Stenographers & Accountants
  • Assistants & Registrars
  • Lab Staff & Staff Nurses
  • Personal Assistants

These posts will be filled through Subordinate services Selection Commission, direct recruitment, promotions, and deputations.

480 Outsourced Posts for Quick Functionality

To ensure the day-to-day functioning of these universities, the government has also approved 160 outsourced posts per university. These roles include:

  • Computer Operators
  • Sanitation workers & Gardeners
  • Security Guards & Drivers
  • Peons & Library Attendants

The outsourcing will be carried out via the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, ensuring fairness, transparency, and efficiency.

Youth Employment Opportunities

For the youth of Uttar Pradesh, this decision translates into hundreds of job openings across different sectors. From technical and administrative roles to support services, the recruitment will:

  • Generate local employment.
  • Offer job security in non-teaching positions.
  • Provide diverse opportunities, from skilled roles like engineers to entry-level jobs like attendants.

Boost to Academic and Administrative Quality

Strong administration is the backbone of any university. By approving these posts, the government aims to:

  • Improve the quality of academic services.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of departments.
  • Create a better environment for teachers, researchers, and students.

This means future batches of students will benefit from better facilities and efficient management.

 Recruitment with Transparency & Fairness

The government has assured that all appointments will:

  • Follow reservation rules.
  • Adhere to departmental guidelines.
  • Be processed through transparent channels like GeM portal and official commissions.

This ensures opportunities reach deserving candidates across categories.

 Government’s Vision for Higher Education

Higher education minister Yogendra Upadhyay highlighted that under the leadership of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is setting new benchmarks in education.

“This is a major step towards strengthening universities and making the state a leader in education,” he said.

The move reflects the state’s commitment to building world-class institutions while creating jobs for its growing youth population.

 Final Takeaway

The approval of 948 jobs across three new universities is more than just a recruitment drive — it is a long-term investment in education, youth empowerment, and governance. With transparency in hiring and a focus on strengthening institutions, the Uttar Pradesh government is paving the way for a brighter academic future.
