Railway officials have announced that the installation of CCTV surveillance cameras at 82 railway stations is being carried out on a war footing to enhance passenger safety and strengthen security measures. The initiative forms part of the Railways’ broader plan to modernize infrastructure and improve monitoring across major and suburban stations.

According to officials, CCTV cameras are being installed at key locations within station परिसर, including platforms, entry and exit points, ticket counters, waiting halls, foot overbridges, and parking areas. The surveillance system is expected to help in preventing crimes, monitoring crowd movement, and enabling quick response in case of emergencies.

Railway authorities stated that the live footage from these cameras will be monitored from centralized control rooms and shared with security agencies when required. The system will also assist in identifying suspicious activities and ensuring the safety of passengers, especially during peak travel hours and festival seasons.

Officials added that the project is progressing rapidly and will be completed in phases. Once fully operational, the CCTV network is expected to significantly improve law enforcement capabilities and create a safer travel environment for commuters.

The Railways have urged passengers to cooperate with security personnel and assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to strengthen safety and security at railway stations.
