The Unique Identification Authority of india (UIDAI) has rolled out an updated Aadhaar app that makes managing your Aadhaar details far easier — often without a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Here’s what’s changed and how you can use the app to update key Aadhaar details.

1 🚀 What’s New in the Aadhaar App

The latest Aadhaar app update includes a refreshed interface and new wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital update features that let you:

Update your mobile number online

Update your residential address

Use face authentication for secure identification

Lock and protect your biometric data easily

Generate and share masked Aadhaar (hiding most of the Aadhaar number) to protect privacy.

This makes many Aadhaar updates much more convenient than before.

2 📞 Update Your mobile Number Using the App

Previously, changing your Aadhaar mobile number required an in‑person visit to an enrolment centre. That’s now changed:

✅ You can update your Aadhaar‑linked mobile number directly from the Aadhaar app without visiting a centre.
✅ The app uses OTP verification and face authentication to confirm your identity.
✅ A small processing fee (about 75) applies.
✅ Updates usually reflect in about 15days (sometimes sooner).

How it works:

Open the Aadhaar app and log in.

Go to the Services section.

Choose Mobile Number Update.

Enter your new mobile number and verify it with an OTP.

Complete face authentication and pay the processing fee.

Submit — and wait for the update to reflect.

📌 Note: OTPs may be sent to the new number and sometimes also to the old one if still active.

3 🏡 Update Your Address in the App

You can also update your residential address through the Aadhaar app using:

📌 Valid address proof documents (like Voter ID, electricity bill, passport, bank statement, post‑paid mobile bill, etc.).
📌 Or, use a family member’s Aadhaar as proof.

Steps are similar:

Go to Services → Address Update in the app.

Enter new address details.

Upload scanned address proof.

Verify with OTP + face authentication.

Pay the processing fee and submit.

💡 Once approved, the updated address will be reflected in Aadhaar records and can be downloaded anytime.

4 🆚 What Still Requires a Centre Visit

While mobile number and address can now be updated digitally, other Aadhaar changes still need an enrolment centre:

biometric changes (fingerprint, iris, photo)
❌ Date of birth correction in most cases
❌ Some demographic updates requiring physical verification.

UIDAI uses high‑security checks (like face authentication) for online updates, but centre‑based biometric verification remains necessary for certain changes.

5 🔐 New Privacy & Security Features

The updated app also gives you more control over privacy and security:

🔒 Biometric lock — protects your fingerprints and iris data from misuse, available directly on the app’s home screen.
🛡️ Masked Aadhaar — shows only part of your Aadhaar number, letting you share it safely with hotels, telecoms, etc.

These features help reduce the risk of identity misuse when sharing Aadhaar digitally.

6 🕒 Fees & Processing Time

Update fee: About 75 per request (mobile number or address) — processed within the app.

Processing Time: Usually up to 15 days, but sometimes less.

You’ll receive SMS notifications as updates progress.

✅ Final Takeaway

The new Aadhaar app makes it a lot easier to manage your identity from your smartphone — especially for mobile number and address updates that once required visiting Aadhaar centres. Just:

👉 Download the latest app
👉 Use Services → mobile Number Update or Address Update
👉 Verify with OTP & Face Authentication
👉 Pay the fee and submit 😃
