India’s most IT obsessed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has kick started a major digital initiative called AP FiberNet. For the starters, AP government has packaged the Cable, Phone and Internet for lower prices than what other internet service providers are currently charging.

FiberNet provides quality broadband connection of 15 Mbps speed at Rs.149 for each month and offices will be getting a 100 Mbps connection at a price tag of Rs.999 per month. AP has partnered in this regard with John Chambers, the executive chairman of Cisco to make the project a reality.

Speaking during the launch event John reported said this was planned by Naidu  a decade ago and however finally it has turned into a reality only now after he took the charge as AP CM again. About 18 states in the India have chosen AP FiberNet model.

Mainly Rajasthan, UP, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have adopted them inspired by AP Fiber Grid Model. Naidu seems to have once again lived up to his brand ‘Cyber Star’ image by implementing this great dream project at such low costs even in the midst of financial issues AP is reeling under.
