#FakePaneer has been trending all around the internet due to the fact that maharashtra Water Resources minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil discovered on february 10 that many inns inside the kingdom use paneer crafted from vegetable oil in place of milk.


It's far from the only similar incident. A social media consumer in october 2024 claimed that zomato indexed "Analogue Paneer," made from vegetable oil, as appropriate for tikka and gravy dishes. Those instances have left humans aggravated about how to perceive the difference between real and pretend paneer before shopping for it.

Taste & Texture:


Actual paneer has a smooth, barely crumbly texture with a distinct milky aroma. In comparison, analog paneer feels rubbery and lacks the sparkling milk fragrance, suggesting it's made from vegetable oil or different substitutes.


Use your fingers.


Use your easy fingers to mash some paneer. If the paneer is adulterated and made with skimmed milk, it will crumble under the pressure of your hands.



While heated, actual paneer releases milk fats and can expand to a moderate browning. In contrast, analog paneer, made with vegetable fat, frequently releases extra water and feels rubbery due to its lower fat content.

To perform this test, boil paneer in water and let it cool. Then, sprinkle some tur dal powder on it and leave it for 10 minutes. If the paneer turns a mild red, it indicates the presence of detergent or urea.

Scent the paneer before purchasing it. Fresh paneer gives off a milky aroma, whereas faux paneer might have a bad or chemical-like odor.
