A new ration shop in the Gandhi Nagar area of Kadapadi, Vellore district was inaugurated today by Durai Murugan, minister for Water Resources. The shop is expected to serve local residents by providing essential commodities at subsidized rates through the Public Distribution System, strengthening access to basic needs for the community.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent officials and local leaders, including V. Ira. Subbulakshmi, district Collector, T.M. Kathir Anand, Member of Parliament, C. Narasimman, district Treasurer, and Pushpalatha Vanniyaraja, Mandal Committee Chairperson. Also present were N. Paramasivam, Area Secretary, Sivasankari Paramasivam, local Committee Member, Y. Devanesan, Deputy City Secretary, and A. Krishnan, Division Secretary, along with other district and regional officials.
During the event, minister Durai Murugan highlighted the government’s commitment to improving public welfare services, ensuring that essential commodities are available efficiently to eligible households, and strengthening the Public Distribution System across the district. The ceremony also provided an opportunity for citizens to interact with officials regarding local welfare programs and services.
The new ration shop in gandhi Nagar is expected to benefit hundreds of families in the area, providing easy access to essential goods and contributing to the government’s broader goal of social welfare and equitable distribution of resources.
