Monday, december 6, 2021, is the 65th Mahaparinirvana Day. The fact that has been forgotten by many was Babasaheb Ambedkar is a world-class distinguished economist.


We know Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar as the Constitution of India. The great work he has done for the Dalits and the backward community is always talked about. 


Europe and the united states also took notice

There are many facets to Babasaheb's personality. Legal experts, social reformers, journalists, educators, thinkers, etc. 

But one aspect of his personality that he always overlooked in a large area of his knowledge was economics. We forget that he was a great economist. 


In fact, in this regard, Dr Ambedkar's analysis was very rare. His economic knowledge, his various theories, his economic dissertations are seldom discussed. 

The important thing is that the need for that economic theory is greater today. They are more applicable today.


Dr Ambedkar's knowledge of economics was noticed in europe and America at that time. Unfortunately, this aspect of theirs has been neglected in India.


World-class economist

Among the first few indians to graduate from Ritsar university with a degree in economics, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. 


In fact, the first internationally renowned economist of that time was Dr Ambedkar's name comes next. He received his PhD in economics from Columbia university in 1917. 


He then obtained a DSC in economics from the london School of economics in 1921. Both these institutions were and are world-renowned institutions. 

To address the economic issues facing india at that time, the currency issue, the challenges facing the rupee, the crises faced by india due to the monetary system imposed by the British, Dr Ambedkar made full use of his economic knowledge. 


Dr Ambedkar has written extensively on important topics such as credit policy, public financing, agricultural economics, the economic system of society, and the country's economy.
