We're introduced to a jobless arjun Talwar (Shahid Kapoor), a middle-aged parent whose love for cricket is evident because even his son shares the same dream, prompting him to ask his father for a jersey. Vidya (Mrunal Thakur) wants arjun to return to his previous work, but arjun wants to return to the field of his long-lost aspirations, while arjun strives to fulfil such a minor demand of his son, Mrs Talwar. vidya asks him to pick between two unthinkable possibilities once he decides to begin the second innings of his life. What would arjun pick, and will vidya still support him if he chooses cricket? A father decides to begin his life based on the shards of an unfulfilled promise, and what follows is the story of Jersey.

In the telugu version, jersey keeps the same director as its predecessor. Jersey's original director Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also directed sandeep Reddy Vanga in Kabir Singh, is in charge of the hindi translation. That's how a movie/subject should be adapted: by enlisting the same brain to perform the same feat with new material. Thankfully, I did not view Nani's version before diving into this sea of surprises, and this allowed me to better understand Arjun's turbulent life.

Even when shahid kapoor hasn't been playing your typical guy-next-door, chocolatey hero roles for a long time, the image still pops up when it's needed. Even though arjun is a serious person, shahid simply smiles and does something strange on his face to change the mood in the same sequence. shahid not only portrays Arjun's father perfectly, but he also captures the cricketer's side of the character perfectly. He uses his expressions a lot, and he can pull off any mood with ease. Mrunal portrays the evil side of struggle with striking conviction. vidya shows how difficult the fight is for the entire family while arjun is struggling. There's a part where she smiles while crying, and I couldn't stop a single tear from falling from the corner of my eyes.

Overall, this movie is a rare Gem and even if you have seen Nani's version rewatch it as the story was retold in a different manner!
