Kerala Boat Tragedy: Death toll climbs-Rescue on...


22 people have now died as a result of the Malappuram boat capsize tragedy, according to the regional fire range officer. A tourist boat capsized close to the Tanur shore during the incident, which took place in Kerala's Malappuram district.


Shiju KK, a regional fire range officer, stated, "So far, we have found 22 dead bodies. Since we don't know how many people were on the boat, we are keeping looking for any further victims who might still be stuck in the mud. The rescue effort was launched when many vehicles arrived at the scene.


Following the event, Kerala's health minister Veena George held an urgent meeting of the State health Department and gave the officials instructions to guarantee better care for the injured.

Better injury care and quicker post-mortem procedures have been ordered by the health minister. The post-mortem will begin on monday at 6 a.m., according to strict instructions from the minister. On Sunday, kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences for the deaths caused by the Malappuram boat capsize disaster and he commanded that rescue efforts be properly coordinated.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic death toll from the Malappuram Tanur boat accident. The district administration has been instructed to efficiently coordinate the rescue efforts, which are being managed by cabinet Ministers. Sending my deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and friends," wrote cm Pinarayi Vijayan in a socialmedia post. In addition to expressing sorrow over the deaths caused by the tragedy, prime minister Narendra Modi declared an ex-gratia of 2 lakh for each of the deceased's next of kin.
