On wednesday morning, thick fog blanketed delhi and its surrounding areas, lowering visibility to near-zero and disrupting traffic, rail, and airline activity. A western disturbance in the Himalayan area is expected to bring mild rain to the national capital over the next two days, commencing today. According to the india Meteorological Department (IMD), there has been zero visibility at indira gandhi International airport since 1:30 a.m., hampering flight operations. 

According to delhi airport authorities, more than 50 planes were delayed owing to the dense fog in Delhi. Several of these planes were diverted to Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. The delhi airport issued an alert advising travellers to contact their airlines for up-to-date flight information. "While landing and takeoffs continue at delhi airport, planes that are not CAT III compliant may be disrupted. For the most up-to-date flight information, passengers should contact their respective airlines. "Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted," the message read.
According to ANI, 23 trains from various regions of the nation were running late on their route to Delhi. On Tuesday, delhi recorded maximum and minimum temperatures of 21.4 degrees Celsius (one notch below the normal range) and 8.7 degrees Celsius (within the normal range), respectively.
