200 armed men broke into the residence of a top Manipur police official on Tuesday, february 27, and took him hostage. police said that after prompt intervention by officers and security personnel, he was saved. Moirangthem amit Singh, the Additional Superintendent of police for Imphal West, was kidnapped from his Imphal West district home by individuals believed to be Arambai Tenggol, a Meitei vigilante organisation, according to police reports.
 
According to the police statement, over 200 armed people—possibly Arambai Tenggol cadres—ran into Moirangthem's Imphal West home and damaged property. Following the reporting of the occurrence, security forces were summoned.


Two people, named as Rabinash Moirangthem and Kangujam Bhimsen, were hurt during the subsequent police action and were taken to the hospital. But in the middle of the confusion, the attackers kidnapped Moirangthem and one of his escorts.
 
Immediately, more troops were called into action for a crucial rescue mission. The kidnapped Additional SP and his bodyguard were freed from the Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai region in a couple of hours. They were brought to raj Medicity for medical attention after their rescue.
 
The event is still being investigated, and a case has been filed.
