As holi approaches the calendar, hyderabad gets ready for the festival of colors. Street vendors in the capital have begun to stock up on gulaal for their kiosks, turning unremarkable corners into vibrant spaces. Everywhere throughout the city, from the busy avenues of Begum Bazaar to individual vendors, the perfume of traditional sweets and the vivid colors of gulaal fill the air.

According to Rajesh, a seller at Begum Bazaar, "Holi is a time for people to come together, forget their worries, and rejoice in the spirit of love."

Along with pichkaris and other items, the kiosks have a variety of colors in gulaal, ranging from pastels to primary hues. Individuals are spotted stockpiling gulaal for their upcoming holi celebrations and purchasing pichkaris to play with alongside water balloons.

Meena, a shop owner in Secunderabad, said, "Many people have started coming to buy small packets for their hampers, while others have come early to place bulk orders of gulaal for holi parties."

Even while the classic gulaal is still a favorite, consumers and merchants alike have accepted more environmentally friendly options, such as organic colors created from natural components, in addition to the classic ones.

People who are concerned about the environment are drawn to organic color options. These colors are created using natural components; for example, turmeric, marigold flowers, and extracts from indian roses are used to create the pink tones, and so on," stated Rajesh.

Homemade gulaal
In the city, people have started preparing their gulaal with things they already have at home to make their own DIY holi colors. This do-it-yourself method allows people to personalize the celebrations and change the colors to suit their tastes. Making homemade gulaal is easy and usually just requires combining natural substances, such as wheat or cornstarch, as a foundation with bright colors like mehendi for green, turmeric for yellow, and beets for pink.
