In the ongoing delhi Excise Policy case, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's bid for interim release faced a setback as the delhi high court declined to issue an immediate order on wednesday (March 27, 2024). The court emphasized the need for a detailed hearing and stressed the importance of reviewing the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) response before making any decisions.

Highlighting the significance of examining any potential additional information or evidence obtained during Kejriwal's custodial interrogation, the court underscored the necessity of thoroughly assessing the situation before ruling on his release.

The Enforcement Directorate has been directed to submit its response by april 2, 2024, with the next hearing scheduled for april 3, 2024. kejriwal, in his petition, sought interim release and criticized his arrest as unjust, asserting that its purpose was not to gather evidence but to undermine him and the aam aadmi party (AAP).

Addressing the court on wednesday, kejriwal argued that his arrest was politically motivated and aimed at weakening him and his party. Following his arrest, he was remanded to ED custody until march 28, prompting him to petition the high court against both the agency's actions and the remand order issued by the trial court in connection with the excise policy case.
