Fans took to social media after the Last of Us Season 2 finale to share their drastically divergent opinions about the show thus far.
 
Fans of The Last of Us have expressed a wide range of divergent views on X on the recently shown second season finale. Others have gone so far as to call the series' Season 2 conclusion anything from "underwhelming" to "the worst season finale possible," despite the fact that they have generally expressed approval for the path the show took.

The Last of Us, which debuted on HBO in 2023 to the acclaim of fans worldwide, is based on the 2013 video game of the same name and its 2020 sequel.  Joel and Ellie, a middle-aged man and teenage girl who team up to survive a post-apocalyptic world overrun by fungal zombies, are portrayed by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the television series.  

In the second season of The Last of Us, Joel and Ellie were plagued by the consequences of their earlier deeds, whereas Season 1 followed their trek across the nation and their battle against the Firefly militia, who would utilize her brain to create a vaccine against the zombie infection.
