The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars, has invited indian actors ayushmann khurrana and kamal haasan as voting members. Along with them, the prestigious film organization has also invited recent oscar winners Kieron Culkin and Mickey Madison. A total of 534 renowned artists and executives, including Ariana Grande, Fernanda Torres, Sebastian Stan, and Jeremy Strong, have been invited as voting members of the Oscars. ayushmann khurrana is known for his work in critically acclaimed films like 'Andhathoon', 'Vicky Donor', 'Bala' and 'Sarkar 15'. His films are mostly remade in tamil, for example, vicky donor and Thaarala Prabhu were remade in tamil and were also successful. As for kamal haasan, he is one of the renowned stars of the indian cinema industry. With an experience of over 5 decades in the film industry, he is still considered one of the most successful artists in India. He was last seen in the film Thug Life directed by Mani Ratnam.
If all the celebrities accept the invitation, the total membership of the Academy will increase to 11,120, including 10,143 voting members. The invitees, from 60 countries and territories outside the United States, contribute to the Academy's increasingly international outlook. “We are delighted to welcome these distinguished artists, technicians, and professionals to the Academy. This year’s class represents the diversity and global breadth of today’s film community, and their inclusion will continue to enrich the Academy’s work and mission,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a joint statement.


The individuals invited will join one of the Academy’s 19 branches, or be placed as associate members — a category of membership that honors distinguished service to the industry. Branch members and artist representatives are eligible to vote in oscar categories and run for Academy executive elections. Associate members do not have oscar voting rights or executive privileges. Twelve filmmakers, including Brady Corbett, Coralie Fargiat, Magnus Van Horn, Emma Ryan Yamasaki, Smriti Mundra, Molly O'Brien, Emma Ryan Yamasaki, maha Hajj, Matis Kasa, and Jinds Zilbalotis, and Hossein Molayemi and shirin Sohani, were invited to various branches. They were required to choose a branch upon accepting membership. Along with indian stars, several other notable celebrities, including Jason Momoa, stephen Graham, Ariana Grande, and Dave Bautista, have also been invited.
