Pakistan has taken over the hosting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSE) for a month on tuesday (July 2, 2025). As soon as it got the presidency of the UNSE, Pakistan has started spewing venom against India. Once again adopting the old tune of kashmir, Pakistan's Ambassador to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, has demanded to take necessary steps for this.

Pakistan raised the issue of Kashmir

India has always been calling the kashmir issue a bilateral one. The Pakistani ambassador said that the UNSC should take necessary steps to resolve the kashmir issue. He said that the controversial issue of kashmir remains a matter of serious tension between india and Pakistan.

Speaking at the United Nations Headquarters, the Pakistani ambassador said, "This is the right time to speak on the issue of Kashmir. This is not only the responsibility of kashmir, it is also an issue of the Security Council. We are temporary members here (UNSC) for two years. The permanent members of the UNSC should take such steps which can find a way out." kashmir got freedom after Shimla agreement was cancelled

It was decided under the shimla agreement that both the countries will solve their mutual issues bilaterally. As soon as this agreement was cancelled, Pakistan has got a free hand to raise bilateral issues with india on international forums. Even when the shimla agreement was not cancelled, pakistan had raised the issue of kashmir on global forums many times.

What did pakistan say after getting the presidency of UNSC?

As soon as pakistan got the presidency of UNSC, Pakistan's ambassador Asim Iftikhar ahmed while talking to Associated Press of pakistan (APP) said, "Pakistan's presidency will be transparent, inclusive and accountable. We are fully aware of the complex geopolitical scenario, growing instability in the world, threats to international peace and security, escalating conflicts and deepening humanitarian crises."
