vikram Misri was asked on
friday whether the issue of

prime minister Narendra Modi and
maldives President Mohammad Muizzu? In response to this, he said that
maldives has expressed commitment to cooperation with
india, calling security related issues important.
Cooperation with
india is necessary for the security of Maldives
Vikram Misri said that President Muizzu made it clear that
maldives takes security related matters seriously and cooperation between the two countries will continue on this. He said that there is constant dialogue and contact between the security agencies of
india and Maldives.
Discussion on trade, defense and maritime security
Prime
minister Modi held extensive talks with Muizzu during his two-day visit to Maldives. Both the leaders emphasized on further deepening the partnership in important areas like trade, defense and maritime security.
India-Maldives will continue to work on shared security interests
Vikram Misri said that
india will continue to work with
maldives on all issues that can affect regional security. There is a continuous and high-level dialogue between security agencies.
40% relief in debt payment
Vikram Misri informed that under the important agreement reached after the meeting, the debt that
maldives has to repay to
india every year will be reduced by 40 percent.
"Our relations are older than history" - PM Modi
PM Modi said in the
press briefing that the relations between
india and
maldives are as deep as the ocean and older than history. He said, "For us, friendship always comes first." He also said that the friendship between
india and
maldives will remain bright and clear in every situation.
Line of credit of ₹4,850 crore and trade agreement
India announced financial assistance of ₹4,850 crore to Maldives. Apart from this, there is an agreement to finalise the free trade agreement between the two countries soon.
