Independence Day 2025: Celebrating Operation Sindoor
As india gears up to commemorate its 79th Independence Day on august 15, 2025, prime minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver his 12th consecutive address from the historic red fort in Delhi. This year's celebrations will prominently feature the success of Operation Sindoor, a military response following the pahalgam terror attack on april 22.
The theme of this year's event is "Naya Bharat," aligning with the government's vision of achieving a developed nation, or Viksit Bharat, by 2047. The celebration will incorporate the Operation Sindoor logo into floral decorations along Gyanpath, enhancing the significance of the occasion.
Following the Prime Minister's flag hoisting, two Mi-17 helicopters from the indian Air Force will shower flower petals over the venue—one carrying the national flag and the other displaying the Operation Sindoor banner.
This year, approximately 5,000 special guests will be present at the red fort, representing diverse sectors of society. Security measures will be heightened, with over 11,000 personnel, including snipers in high-rise buildings and traffic police, ensuring safety in and around the venue.
The weather forecast indicates a cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain on Independence Day, prompting the delhi Traffic police to issue an advisory regarding traffic restrictions and diversions from 4 am to 10 am.
On the eve of Independence Day, india honored the bravery of armed forces personnel involved in Operation Sindoor, highlighted by a stunning display of 550 drones flying from Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur. Defence minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the strategic importance of Operation Sindoor as a measured military response to contemporary global threats.
