Maruti Suzuki india Limited has taken a bold step into the global electric vehicle (EV) market with the commencement of e-Vitara exports to Europe. This milestone not only marks Suzuki's first battery electric vehicle (BEV) shipment from india but also strengthens the country’s role as a global EV manufacturing hub.


1. First Shipment: 2,900 Units Head to Europe

Over 2,900 units of the e-Vitara have been shipped from Pipavav Port, Gujarat.

These vehicles are set to reach 12 european countries, including the UK, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium.


2. Production Begins at gujarat Plant

The e-Vitara is manufactured exclusively at maruti Suzuki's Hansalpur, gujarat facility.

On 26th august 2025, prime minister Narendra Modi flagged off the production, calling maruti Suzuki a “brand ambassador of Make in India.”

Built on the HEARTECT-e EV platform, the e-Vitara combines advanced technology, safety, and performance.

6. EV Push Amid august 2025 Sales Dip

Despite this milestone, maruti Suzuki reported wholesale sales of 1,80,683 units in august 2025, showing a slight decline.

The focus on EV exports indicates a strategic shift towards premium and global markets.

Likely domestic launch in late 2025 or early 2026.
