💰 Charges Beyond Free Limits
Starting May 1, 2025, the RBI has increased the maximum fee banks can charge for ATM withdrawals beyond the free limit to ₹23 per transaction. This is an increase from the previous cap of ₹21. Applicable taxes, such as Goods and services Tax (GST), will be added to this fee. For instance, with an 18% GST, the total charge per transaction would be approximately ₹27.14.
🔄 Transaction Types Covered
The free transaction limits apply to both financial (e.g., cash withdrawals) and non-financial (e.g., balance inquiries, PIN changes) transactions. Once the free limit is exceeded, the ₹23 fee applies to each additional transaction.
📍 Important Notes
Transaction Counting: All transactions, whether financial or non-financial, count toward the free transaction limit.
GST Applicability: The ₹23 fee is exclusive of taxes; applicable taxes like GST will be added to the total charge.
ATM Network: Charges apply to withdrawals from both bank ATMs and cash recycler machines (CRMs), except for cash deposits.
💡 Tips to Avoid Extra Charges
Plan Withdrawals: Consolidate your cash needs to minimize the number of ATM visits.
