Chennai: With the final electoral roll scheduled to be published on february 17, tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) archana Patnaik held a detailed consultation with all district Collectors to review the final-stage work related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list.

During the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer assessed the progress made in updating the electoral rolls and issued instructions to ensure that the revision process is completed accurately and transparently. Emphasis was placed on the inclusion of eligible voters, deletion of duplicate and ineligible entries, and correction of errors in voter details.

Archana Patnaik stressed the importance of ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll and that the process adheres strictly to the guidelines of the election commission of India. district Collectors were asked to closely monitor field-level officers and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to ensure the quality and integrity of the revision work.

The meeting also reviewed complaints and claims received from the public during the revision period and discussed measures to address them promptly. Special attention was given to first-time voters, youth, migrant workers, and vulnerable sections of society to ensure their inclusion in the voters’ list.

The Chief Electoral Officer reiterated that the publication of an error-free final electoral roll is crucial for conducting free and fair elections in the state. district administrations were directed to complete all pending tasks within the stipulated timeline so that the final list can be released as scheduled on february 17.
