Chennai: tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. stalin on tuesday inaugurated six new ‘Samathuvapurams’ constructed by the Rural Development Department at a total cost of ₹42.40 crore, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to social equality, inclusive growth, and harmonious living.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister said that the concept of Samathuvapuram was envisioned to eliminate social discrimination and promote equality by providing dignified housing to families from different communities in a single, integrated settlement. He stated that these projects reflect the core ideals of the Dravidian Model of governance, which places social justice and human dignity at the forefront of development.
The newly inaugurated Samathuvapurams have been established in various districts across tamil Nadu and are equipped with essential infrastructure such as paved roads, street lighting, drinking water facilities, sanitation, and community spaces. Each settlement consists of houses allotted to beneficiaries from diverse social backgrounds, ensuring equal access to public amenities without any form of segregation.
M.K. stalin highlighted that the Rural Development Department has been playing a crucial role in improving the quality of life in rural areas through housing, infrastructure development, and welfare initiatives. He said the government is committed to strengthening rural tamil Nadu by ensuring that development reaches the grassroots level.
The chief minister also noted that special attention has been given to women-headed households, economically weaker sections, and marginalized communities while selecting beneficiaries. He reiterated that the government would continue to expand the Samathuvapuram scheme in the coming years to foster social harmony and inclusive living.
Several ministers, senior government officials, and local representatives attended the event. Beneficiaries expressed happiness over receiving permanent houses in an environment that promotes equality and community living.
Concluding his address, the chief minister said that Samathuvapurams stand as living symbols of the government’s resolve to build a society based on equality, mutual respect, and shared progress.
