Telangana's historical and tourist sites are gaining international recognition. This town is going to get a whole new glory. The village is competing in the Best Tourism village Contest organized by the United Nations agency UNWTO. Bhoodan Pochampally village in yadadri Bhubaneswar district was one of the three villages in the country competing for the award.


The UNWTO is organizing the Best Tourism village Contest intending to introduce rural tourism and the lifestyle of the people living there to the world in an innovative way. The main objective of the competition is to promote tourism, increase population in rural areas and create infrastructure.


Three villages from india got entry in this competition which is organized all over the world. One of them is Whistling village Kang Dan from Meghalaya. The second is Ladpura Khas village in Madhya Pradesh. The third village is Bhoodan Pochampally village in yadadri Bhubaneswar district from Telangana. 


Already Bhoodan Pochampally in yadadri Bhubaneswar district is known all over the world. It was from this village that the first land uprising in the country began. Until then, the village was popularly known as Pochampally but Bhoodan Pochampally. bhutan Pochampally is credited with exporting light handkerchiefs, glasses and beads to other Arab countries, including the then Nizam Nawab.


The village is famous for Ikkat costumes. It is known as the Silk City of india due to the talent of its handloom workers. The people of Pochampally want their state to be recognized all over the world.
