After violence erupted on the state's border on october 17, the administrations of assam and Mizoram reached out to the Centre on sunday to address the issue. In confrontations between citizens of the two states, at least four individuals were hurt. The situation in the area, which is in Mizoram's Kolasib district and Assam's Cachar district, is currently under control. The matter will be discussed during a meeting Today, according to home minister Lalchamliana.

Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj are three South assam districts that share a 164.6-kilometre border with Mizoram's Kolasib, Mamit, and Aizawl districts. Much of the border is disputed, and the two states have frequently fought, sometimes violently, over it. Since 1994, many rounds of negotiations at various levels have failed to resolve the dispute.

It all started at midday, according to Mizoram district officials and ethnic groups, when several people of Cachar destroyed a Mizoram police post in the sight of assam police officers. Both sides have their own account of events that led to the october 17 escalation. "Assam residents demolished a Covid roadblock," claimed H Lalthangliana, Kolasib's deputy commissioner.

Three persons were hurt in the incident, according to Mizoram's chief minister, Kolasib Kolasinha. Stone pelting from Lailapur, according to civil society organisations, sparked the confrontations. He said that people from Mizoram built several makeshift shelters and set fire to them. "One of them is in serious condition and is being treated in a hospital," he said.
