The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reports that offences towards women in the capital have dropped by 24% in 2020 relative to 2019. In 2020, there were 9,782 reported offences against women, falling from 12,902 in 2019. There were 938 allegations of female assault in 2020, up from 1,088 in 2019, and 862 incidents of sexual harassment, up from 644 in 2019. In 2020, 967 rape cases have now been submitted, down from 1,231 in 2019, a 21% decrease. Stalking charges fell by 40% in 2020, with 235 occurrences registered compared to 388 the year before.

This might be owing to the strict lockdown, which made it more difficult for women to travel outdoors. Furthermore, there has been an increase in women targeted cybercrime. As per the report, cybercrime in delhi surged by 55% in 2020 over the previous year. There were 166 instances recorded in 2020, up from 107 in 2019. As per the NCRB, there were 35,331 incidents of crimes towards women reported throughout the 19 major cities in 2020, a decrease of 21.1 % over 2019. (A total of 44,783 instances). The bulk of offences towards women (30.2 %) was categorised as "brutality by husbands or family members," showing the situation of many women at home.

The closure last year corresponded with an increase in domestic abuse occurrences. A record of 18,657 incidents of cybercrime has already been recorded in Cities in India, up 0.8 % from the prior year 18,500 cases.
