Zack Snyder congratulates Henry Cavill on returning to the DC Universe after his cameo as Superman in Black Adam. The DCU (previously known as the DCEU until october 2022) will reach its ten-year anniversary in 2023, having started with the release of Man of Steel in 2013. Snyder's Man of Steel, which starred Cavill as Superman, was the first significant instalment in Warner Bros.' legitimate attempt to start a superhero film universe akin to the MCU.

After that, Cavill and Snyder worked together on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, with the latter's original version being made available on HBO Max in 2021. The DC Universe, though, had been going through the motions as the studio struggled to find out how to carry on its superhero franchise after Joss Whedon's contentious Justice League cut in 2017. Cavill made his Superman comeback in Black Adam, where he made a cameo appearance that hinted at bigger things to come, while Snyder has moved on to developing his own projects for Netflix.

Cavill recently made a live visit on josh Horowitz's Happy, Sad, Confused podcast (via @MoviesThatMaher) after his Black Adam performance, where he spoke about a variety of topics, including his comeback as Superman. In a special video message for the Q&A portion of the podcast, Snyder asked Cavill a question about filming Man of Steel. Snyder concluded his statement by saying, "I can't wait to work with you in the future, and you are, of course, the greatest Superman ever," before adding a heartfelt note for the actor.
