KGF: Chapter 2, Prashanth Neel's follow-up to the historical thriller, was one of the most popular and successful films of 2022. According to BookMyShow's "Best of 2022" report, the movie managed to sell 2.14 million tickets on its opening day, april 14, with additional receipts coming in the weekends that followed. In terms of box office and audience popularity, the film is without a doubt the victor of 2022.

With a staggering 17.7 million tickets sold, the Kannada-language picture surpassed S.S. Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion to become the most popular movie on the site in 2022, selling 34% of all tickets during the weekends. KGF: Chapter 2 also topped BookMyShow's statistics for the most advance reservations, followed by titles like RRR, Ponniyin Selvan: I, doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and, interestingly enough, Idris Elba's Beast, which is not the Tamil-language movie of the same name starring Vijay.

Additionally, a 116 percent rise in viewers preferring a "immersive cinematic experience" to standard displays is noted in the BookMyShow statistics. This obviously refers to the formats of 3D, IMAX 2D, IMAX 3D, and 4DX, which were also prominently pushed during the re-release of avatar in September. hollywood films dominate the IMAX and 4DX markets, with only a tiny number of indian films making up the total.
