Shankar, who is a great director in tamil cinema, has spoken about not having worked with musician ilayaraja in a film so far.

Shankar worked as an assistant director to actor Vijay's father SA Chandrasekhar. After that, he made his debut as a director with the film gentleman and became a success in the very first film with his magnificent making. Later, director Shankar, who hit mass films like Lover, indian, Jeans, and Boys, has directed a total of 13 films so far.
He currently has two big films under his belt. One of them is Game Changer and the other is indian 2. Both these films are releasing soon. In this game changer, Ramcharan plays the hero. The film is produced by dil Raju. Similarly, kamal haasan is playing the lead role in indian 2. The film is jointly produced by Laika and red Giant Movies.
Director shankar has worked with two music composers AR Raghuman and harris jayaraj in 13 films directed so far. Both the films he is currently directing are by different composers. Thaman has composed the music for the film Game Changer. Similarly, Anirudh is composing music for indian 2. This is the first time that director shankar is working with these two.
Shankar, who has been a successful director for more than 30 years, has never worked with music composer ilayaraja in a single film. director shankar has openly stated the reason for that. Accordingly, shankar got an opportunity to work with ilayaraja at the time of Gendimeal. But shankar said no as he was hesitant about how to work with him and how to get songs from him.
Not only that, shankar also says that he has never worked with ilayaraja because of his respect and fear for him. Although they have not worked in films, they have worked together in an ad film. Notably, ilayaraja had composed the music for an awareness ad directed by shankar featuring Kamal.
