Akshay Kumar’s latest release, Kesari Chapter 2, has made a strong impression on its first day at the box office, earning approximately ₹6 crore across India. The film, which hit theaters on april 18, 2025, coincided with the Good friday holiday, giving it a good platform for a solid opening.Directed by karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed Kesari (2019), delving into the tragic events of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. 

Directed by newcomer karan Singh Tyagi, the film explores the legal battle that followed the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre. akshay kumar plays C. Sankaran Nair, the prominent lawyer who dared to challenge the british colonial powers in court. Joining him on screen are R. madhavan and ananya Panday in key roles.

Despite facing competition and a slightly cautious market, the film managed to attract significant interest, aided by its historical theme and patriotic appeal. Advance bookings crossed 57,000 tickets, indicating strong pre-release buzz.

The ₹6 crore opening day collection is a decent start, especially for a courtroom drama with a serious tone. Trade experts believe that word-of-mouth and the long weekend could push the numbers higher over the next few days.

Kesari Chapter 2 is now playing in cinemas nationwide.
