Aamir Khan on remake Film
Aamir Khan is busy these days with the promotion of the film 'Sitare Zameen Par'. He is continuously giving interviews. Recently, he has answered about making a remake film.
In raj Shamani's podcast, when he was asked, does it ever cross my mind that if I am adapting a film's story, I am copying someone's work?
On this Aamir said, 'I have no problem with original work versus adaptation or remake. I don't feel that my creativity is diminishing in doing a remake. I am doing new work for myself. Someone else has made this story. Now I am giving it my perspective. And the team is giving its perspective and we are putting our energy into it. We are putting life into it. It is unrelated to the team that has done it.'
Why are you still doing Shakespeare to this day
Aamir Khan further said, 'People still perform Shakespeare. To date, Shakespeare is the number one play in theatre in the world. To date, Shakespeare is performed in every language. And for that we say, wow, he is doing Shakespeare. Why bother? It is a remake, stop that. You should write your play. Why are you performing Shakespeare to date? It has been 400 years and you are still performing Shakespeare. When you perform Shakespeare's plays, you get praise. That too is a remake, isn't it brother? This is wrong thinking.'
'Isn't this a double standard? If I do Shakespeare, I will be applauded but if I remake a Spanish film, then no. Why? Are the Spanish people doing something wrong? I like this, your blood is blood and our blood is water.'
Aamir Khan said – there is no problem in doing a remake
Aamir further said, 'This discussion of remakes seems very useless to me and I don't believe in it. Ghajini has been made in tamil by Murgadas. But I am doing it from my perspective and I am putting my energy into it and showing it to you for my audience. So I feel my work is different from his. Whatever he has made is good. I am not saying that it is not good. But whatever we have made, has a different quality of its own. So neither did I have any problem in making a remake before nor do I have any problem today.'
