Costume designer Neeta Lulla shared her experiences during the film Devdas and talked about the climax scene. She said, 'I had only one night to create that look. 12-14 meter-long sarees were used in the entire film. I had cut two or three saris to make the entire outfit. For the climax scene, the director felt he needed a durga puja cotton saree, we had the saree and everything was ready. The night before the shoot, we were in aishwarya Rai's van and were looking at the outfits in the evening after pack-up.'

Further, she said, 'The director said that his idea was to set the pallu of the saree on fire and he felt the saree was short for that. Hearing this, I said, 'Can I go?' They were upset. I left the set and started making calls trying to find a solution. I called one of my clothes and asked him to open his shop at 11 pm. Meanwhile, I asked my embroidery team to start working on the border and everything else. By 8.30 am the next day, we had two 13-meter saris ready on the set.'
