The prime accused in the sensational Emaar properties scam case, Koneru Rajendra Prasad has reportedly been chosen as the YSRCP candidate for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency. Sources say that Prasad kick started his election campaign yesterday.
Prasad is known for his involvement in real estate and infrastructure business in Dubai and other foreign countries. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had put him behind bars on connection with the Rs 250 crore Emaar properties scam in Hyderabad in 2011 and he is also the accused No. 6 in the Emaar case linked to the alleged illegal assets issue of YSRCP chief Jagan.
Sources add that Jagan requested Prasad to take a plunge into active though Potluri Varaprasad of PVP Ventures was his first choice which fell back after the PVP refused to grant tickets to his nominees for Assembly elections in the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency.
With time running out for candidates' selection, sources say that Jagan had a review meeting with Koneru and all the seven assembly constituency in-charges where he was forced to finalize Koneru's candidacy for the Lok Sabha seat since even Purandareshwari didn't respond to Jagan's offer of Vijayawada seat!
