An air traffic controller accidentally approved another Vistara aircraft's takeoff from the same runway at the same time on wednesday morning, resulting in a runway incursion involving a Vistara aircraft, according to an official. The event included two flights: one that had arrived in delhi from ahmedabad and another that was scheduled to depart for Bagdogra.

The Vistara aircraft VTI926 operating the route from ahmedabad to delhi, according to a senior official at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), was engaged in the runway incursion. The air traffic controller gave the plane the go-ahead to cross runway 29R after it touched down on runway 29L. According to the official, the controller also approved the takeoff of another Vistara jet, VTI725, flying a trip from runway 29R.

The relevant air traffic controller has reportedly been derostered, and the regulator will be looking into the event. "The tower controller briefly overlooked this crossover and let another Vistara aircraft, VTI725 (Delhi-Bagdogra), to take off from runway 29R. The tower controller told VTI725 to cancel takeoff after realising the mistake based on information from VTI926, the official added. Regarding the event, Vistara made no comments.
