Journalist Chavku shankar has made a sensational allegation against Transport minister Sivashankar that there has been irregularities in the tender related to parking of buses on highways in tamil Nadu. Veteran Journalist Chavku shankar met the media today. At that time, he said, a complaint has been lodged at the Anti-Corruption office in Alandur, Chennai, against four persons, including Transport minister SS Sivasankar, that there has been irregularities in the tender for parking of State Transport Corporation buses at restaurants operating on highways in tamil Nadu. The Transport Department of tamil Nadu government invites tenders once in two years on behalf of government Express Transport Corporation to stop buses for food and snacks at highway restaurants across tamil Nadu. Restaurant owners on highways apply to transport corporations.
The restaurant owners pay a fixed fee per bus to the transport corporation. Since the state can generate revenue for the government, the government used to open auctions every year for the amount of whoever comes first to pay the highest fare. In the last AIADMK regime, the fare for stopping buses at restaurants on highways was set at Rs 102 for Rapid Transport Corporation buses and Rs 62 for normal buses. After the DMK came to power, raja Kannappan, who was the transport minister, decided to pay 75 rupees for express transport corporation bus and 50 rupees for ordinary buses, from 102 rupees 62 rupees. 27 rupees for Rapid Transport Corporation bus and 12 rupees for ordinary baron went to raja Kannappan as commission out of the fare fixed during the AIADMK regime.
Tenders have been called for parking buses at highway eateries after Sivashankar, who is currently the transport minister, takes office. In this tender, the malpractice is being done by Thangavel from Vedsandur area, who is the proxy of Transport minister Sivasankar's political PA Louis Katiravan. Thangavel, the deputy of the minister, contacted 27 restaurant owners and asked them to pay him a bribe saying that they will buy you a tender and received money from them in the amount of 25,000 to 50,000 rupees through ZPay. He applied for the tender by keeping the tenders of 27 hotel owners in one place and all these tenders should be given as e-tender but Thangavel, the deputy of the minister took bribe from all of them and made them apply for the tenders illegally.
He went to every restaurant owner and took money from all of them saying that if you pay 50 thousand per restaurant to the minister then he will give you the tender. I had informed yesterday that minister SS Sivasankar, his assistant Louie Katiravan and his surrogate Thangavel, who are involved in this malpractice, will file a complaint with the anti-bribery department. But DGP Abhai Kumar Singh, an anti-bribery department, did not buy the complaint. I have lodged a complaint with HQ DSP. If no action is taken on this complaint, I will go to court and file a case. He said with apprehension that it does not matter how many crores are involved in this malpractice, they will collect the amount of bribe given to the minister in the restaurants where the government buses can be used by the poor people.
