Cyber Fraud: The gang that extorted Rs 1.5 crore...

In Sangam city Prayagraj, the police has taken major action and arrested four cyber thugs in the case of digitally arresting an elderly woman for three days and forcibly extorting about Rs 1.5 crore from her. All these thugs were associated with an inter-state gang and their real leaders used to carry out the entire operation from abroad. Out of approximately Rs 1.5 crore recovered from the woman, the police has frozen the amount of Rs 38 lakh in the bank itself.

Elderly woman Kakoli Das Gupta lives alone in Prayagraj. Her husband was a retired IFS officer. He passed away just a few days ago. His daughter lives in America. On 23 october he received a call. The cyber thug called and said that he is speaking from FedEx international Courier Company. A parcel has been sent from taiwan in his name. This parcel contains drugs, objectionable items, three laptops and three credit cards, about which a complaint has been made. Cyber thugs said that the entire matter has been handed over to mumbai Crime Branch for investigation.

Recovered Rs 1.5 crore from an elderly woman

Among the arrested accused, Nitlesh Kumar is a resident of Shahjahanpur, UP, while Rajesh Kumar is a resident of gautam Buddha nagar, Noida. Apart from this, Rama alias chetan Kumar is a resident of Tilak nagar New delhi and Nishant Rai is a resident of Dwarka area of New Delhi. Two weeks ago, these four, with the help of their international friends sitting in nepal and Thailand, had digitally arrested a sixty-five year old woman living in George Town area of Prayagraj and forcibly recovered approximately Rs 1.5 crore from her.
