The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a significant increase in scholarship support for students ahead of the Holi festival, benefiting approximately 38lakh (3.8million) students across the state. This move is being widely appreciated as a major educational support initiative.

📌 What’s the Scholarship Hike About?

🔹 The scholarship amount for students in classes 9 and 10 from backward classes (OBC) has been increased — from ₹2,250 to 3,000 per year (i.e., an increase of ₹750).
🔹 This change is expected to help students continue their studies without financial strain.

👨‍👩‍👧 Who Will Benefit?

✔ Around 38lakh students in Uttar Pradesh are expected to benefit directly from the increase.
✔ The scheme mainly focuses on students from OBC communities studying in secondary school (classes 9 and 10).

💡 Eligibility Expanded

To widen access, the government has also raised the annual family income limit for eligibility from 2lakh to 2.5lakh. This means more families can now qualify for support than before.

🎁 Additional Support Measures

Besides the scholarship increase:
📍 The government has also announced additional allowances such as extra financial support for students with disabilities, enhancing the overall support under state welfare programs.

🏁 Why This Is Important

Encourages education: The extra financial assistance makes it easier for students from modest incomes to stay in school.
Boosts access: Raising the income eligibility limit lets more families benefit from the scheme.
Huge scale: With ~38lakh students covered, this is one of the largest scholarship expansions for that group in recent years.

🎓 How It Works

  • Eligible students receive the scholarship amount directly into their bank accounts through the state’s scholarship distribution system.
  • The benefit applies to students studying in secondary school (classes 9–10), mainly from OBC backgrounds with family income within the new limit.

📍 Final Word

This scholarship increase by the Yogi government is designed to lower financial barriers to education and ensure that students from economically weaker households can continue their studies, especially in critical early high‑school years. With 38lakh students expected to benefit and eligibility widened, this is a major welfare boost ahead of Holi.
