Indian Railways has undergone significant modernization in recent times, introducing trains like Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat and enhancing the appearance and functionality of railway stations through schemes like Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Improvements in cleanliness, security, ticketing systems, and onboard food facilities have also been notable. Moreover, indian Railways is now more attentive to passenger complaints and suggestions than ever before.

A new feature called "destination alert" has been introduced to further enhance the passenger experience. This feature aims to provide passengers with timely information about their upcoming station, making their journey more convenient. Passengers utilizing this service will receive a call or message on their mobile phones approximately 20 minutes before reaching their destination station.

This service is particularly beneficial for passengers traveling long distances, especially during late-night hours between 11 pm and 7 am. One of the key advantages of the destination alert service is that it does not require internet connectivity. However, passengers will incur charges for the calls or messages received.

To avail of the destination alert service, passengers can follow these steps:

1. Dial 139 from their mobile number.

2. Select their preferred language.

3. Choose option 7 from the IVR menu.

4. Select option 2 for destination alert.

5. Enter the PNR number of their ticket and confirm by pressing 1.

6. Upon confirmation, the destination alert service will be activated, and passengers will receive a confirmation message.

Alternatively, passengers can set up destination alerts via SMS by typing "Alert" and sending it to 139 from their phone's messaging app. It's important to ensure that the call or message is sent from the same mobile number for which the destination alert service is desired. With these convenient options, indian Railways continues to modernize and improve the passenger experience.
