Tickets for luggage on the train..!? New Rule..!

Indian Railways has announced that passengers will no longer have to book extra luggage on the train. Under the new rules, passengers can carry 35 to 70 kg of luggage free of charge, depending on the training class. Accordingly, AC first-class passengers can carry up to 70 kg of luggage, and AC second-class passengers can carry up to 50 kg of luggage free of cost. AC third class and sleeper passengers can carry up to 40 kg and second class passengers up to 35 kg of luggage free of charge. Also, a maximum of AC first-class passengers can carry up to 150 kg of luggage. Sleeper passengers can carry a maximum of 80 kg and second class passengers up to 70 kg of luggage. The Department of Railways has warned that passengers caught carrying extra luggage over the permitted weight will have to pay a fine of 6 times the fare for the weight. The minimum charge for luggage is 30 rupees. Those wishing to carry extra luggage can book at the luggage booking office up to 30 minutes before the train departure, as well as pay for extra luggage at the time of booking train tickets.
