Sprite ditches its iconic green color for clear white..!?

It is known that one of the favorite soft drinks of the people is Sprite and this soft drink has been the most loved soft drink from children to the elderly. It is now known that the color of the bottle of Sprite soft drink, which was in the green bottle for the last 60 years, has been changed. With its green bottle etched in everyone's mind, it remains to be seen how much impact this color change will have on consumers. 

For more than 60 years, Sprite has changed its color from a green bottle to a sustainable, eco-friendly white bottle. Sprite's parent company, Coco-
Cola, has announced that Sprite will be rolling out a new white bottle design starting august 1.


Sprite has so far been offered in green bottles, which are made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET). These bottles cannot be recycled back into bottles. Instead, it is converted into items such as carpets and clothing. In this case, if you replace the green bottles with white bottles, you can easily recycle them and turn them back into bottles.

 

Cola has partnered with R3Cycle to recycle Sprite bottles and turn them back into bottles.Julian Ochoa, CEO of R3CYCLE, a recycling company that has a contract with Cola, said that clear PET Sprite bottles can be turned into new clear bottles when recycled. Sprite has been packaged and sold in green since 1961 when the company was founded in the United States.

 

According to customer surveys, Sprite remains one of the best-selling beverages to this day, and customer loyalty is expected to continue despite the change in bottle color.



Apart from Sprite, Cola's bottled water brand 'Dasani' has already announced that it will be made from 100 percent recycled PET plastic. This change will reduce plastic waste by 20 million pounds compared to 2019, according to a press release issued by Cola.
