The Central Government has announced a significant change in the film certification process, reducing the time required to issue a certification for movies from the earlier 48 days to just 18 days.

This move aims to streamline the certification process, allowing filmmakers to release their movies faster and improve planning for promotions and theatrical releases. The decision has been welcomed by industry stakeholders, who often faced delays due to the longer certification period.

Officials stated that the revised timeline will help ease bottlenecks in the approval system and support the smooth release of films across India. Filmmakers are now expected to receive the Censor Board certificate within 18 days of submission, enabling better scheduling and minimizing last-minute hurdles.

Industry experts have noted that this reform could particularly benefit smaller productions and independent filmmakers, who often face challenges in planning release dates due to prolonged certification delays.

The government emphasized that while the timeline has been shortened, the standards and scrutiny for film content will remain unchanged, ensuring that all films continue to adhere to existing guidelines and regulations.
