Electronic media is how political parties promote their policies and views. Recently, social media has also been heavily used for political campaigning and debating the opposing parties. Political parties have gone as far as purchasing media companies because they can use them to promote their activities and the "good done to the people" by them. This is due to the media's power to shape the public's attitude.

The conflict between the opposition tdp and the ruling ycp in andhra pradesh reached the point where they designated the electronic news stations as "blue" and "yellow" media, respectively. While tdp leader N. chandrababu naidu had been referring to Sakshi, TV9, and NTV as "blue media," chief minister Y.S. jagan Mohan reddy had been referring to TV5, Eenadu, and abn as "yellow media." jagan had always been spouting venom at the "yellow media," claiming that they had banded together with Naidu just to wreck the state. Naidu had exhorted the tdp cadre to boycott the "blue media," claiming that it was spreading bogus news and statistics.

Six news channels total when all of these are considered. If media-leaning news outlets were outlawed, all of them would cease broadcasting. Political experts said that it would be preferable if political leaders continued with their campaigning instead of urging the populace to shun the media. The general people is aware of what is best for them and which media outlets favour particular political parties. They also said that they could choose which media channel and what to view there.
