The mamata government's replica of the odisha jagannath temple in Digha, West bengal, has been the subject of numerous disputes since it opened in april of this year. The most recent one concerns the temple prasad.

The bjp has accused the West bengal government of giving Muslim-owned businesses the responsibility of making the temple's prasad. On Tuesday, june 17, amit Malviya, the head of the BJP's IT Cell, attacked the mamata administration, accusing it of "trampling on Hindu sentiments with impunity in West Bengal." On X, Malviya posted a document with a list of stores' names that he said belonged to Muslims.

According to Malviya, these Muslim-owned stores prepared the Gaja and Pera sweets, which are served as prasad from the Digha Jagannath temple. "In the Suti 1 Block of Murshidabad district, sweet shops and ration dealers - the majority of them Muslim - have reportedly been entrusted with the preparation and distribution of Gaja and Pera, which are being labelled as Prabhu Jagannath Dev's sacred prasad. This is not just administrative carelessness. This is a deliberate provocation," Malviya said.

Although non-Hindus are not permitted to enter the ancient jagannath temple in Puri, odisha, Malviya noted that the mamata government was breaching the shrine's purity by serving prasad made by Muslims.  Because of the holiness of the Lord and His customs, non-Hindus are still prohibited from entering Puri's Jagannath Temple.  Despite this, prasad intended for Lord Jagannath followers in mamata Banerjee's bengal is being purchased from stores owned by non-religionists, Malviya continued.

Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the West bengal Assembly, had criticized the mamata government earlier this month for giving candies from nearby stores under the guise of jagannath temple prasad.  Through its 'Duare Sarkar' program, which delivers rations to homes under the Public Distribution System, the West bengal government has begun giving prasad.

It was mandated that all district magistrates use the Duare ration to distribute prasad. The TMC administration allotted ₹20 for a packet of prasad, Adhikari added, adding that the boxes of sweets purchased from the neighborhood confectionery are essentially denigrating Hindu dharma.
