
The israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on friday (June 27, 2025) that it has suffered heavy damage to Iran's three major nuclear centers, Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, in a 12-day military operation. This has dealt a major blow to Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
The IDF said that it had started this operation named Operation Rising Lion from June 13, which was aimed at damaging Iran's nuclear and missile programs, as israel feared that these programs were being made to end its existence.
According to the Israeli army, 11 senior nuclear scientists of iran were killed in this operation, who were considered most important for this program. Apart from this, an inactive nuclear reactor in Arak was also attacked so that it could not be used in future.
According to the IDF, 'Many important units related to missile manufacturing were also targeted. In total, more than 35 bases, 200 launchers and 50 percent of Iran's launchers were completely destroyed. Apart from this, more than 1,500 parts, 15 enemy aircraft, more than 90 targets, 80 surface-to-air missile launchers and 6 airfields were also attacked. Hundreds of Iranian soldiers were killed, many commanders were targeted and more than 30 senior people of the Iranian security system were eliminated.'
The IDF said that during this entire operation, israel got the opportunity to act with complete freedom in Iranian airspace and all the objectives of the operation were accomplished.
The IDF further said that during this mission, excellent intelligence, technology and air capabilities were used. Also, the security system worked day and night. The Israeli military also reported that the Israeli air Force flew 1,500 sorties and refueled nearly 600 times en route to iran, creating air superiority in Iranian skies.
The IDF said, 'In the entire operation, fighter jets carried out 1,400 attacks and 500 attacks were carried out by UAVs and the farthest attack among them was carried out by a fighter jet from Mashhad airport, which is about 2,400 km from Israel. Apart from this, hundreds of attacks by drones and missiles launched from iran were intercepted, in which 99 percent of the drones were shot down.'
