Chennai:
Deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has described the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative assembly election as a decisive battle between Dravidian ideology and fascist forces. Speaking at a public meeting in Chennai, he said the election would not merely be a political contest but a struggle to protect the state’s social justice values, federal rights, and inclusive governance.
Udhayanidhi stalin emphasized that Dravidian principles—which stand for social equality, rationalism, linguistic rights, and secularism—have shaped tamil Nadu’s progressive development for decades. He warned that these values are now under threat from forces promoting authoritarian and centralised ideologies, which he referred to as fascist in nature.
He accused the BJP-led Union government of attempting to impose uniform cultural, linguistic, and political ideas across the country, undermining India’s diversity and the rights of individual states. Policies related to education, language, and federal finance, he said, were examples of efforts that weaken state autonomy and social justice.
The deputy chief minister stated that the Dravidian movement has consistently worked to uplift marginalised communities, expand access to education, ensure reservation benefits, and promote inclusive economic growth. He said the upcoming election would determine whether tamil Nadu continues on this progressive path or moves towards a system that concentrates power and sidelines dissenting voices.
