The projects were completed as part of the North chennai Development Scheme implemented by the chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).

The initiative aims to enhance public infrastructure, recreational facilities, and cultural landmarks in North Chennai.

Project Cost and Implementation

The park and memorial were developed at a total cost of 28.25 crore under the North chennai Development Plan. The project focuses on improving urban spaces and providing residents with better environmental and cultural amenities.

Officials from the chennai Metropolitan Development Authority supervised the planning and execution of the project, ensuring modern facilities and sustainable landscaping.

Murasoli Maran Park: A Green Urban Space

The newly inaugurated Murasoli Maran Park is designed as a modern public park that offers a relaxing environment for residents and visitors. The park includes:

  • Landscaped gardens and greenery
  • Walking and jogging paths
  • Seating areas for families and senior citizens
  • Decorative lighting and aesthetic features

The park is expected to become a recreational hub for people living in and around the Perambur region.

Kalaignar Centenary Coin Memorial Pillar

Another highlight of the project is the Kalaignar Centenary Commemorative Coin Memorial, which was erected to commemorate the centenary celebrations of M. Karunanidhi, popularly known as Kalaignar.

The memorial pillar features a design inspired by the commemorative coin released in honor of Kalaignar’s 100th birth anniversary. It stands as a tribute to his contributions to tamil culture, politics, literature, and social development.

Boost to North chennai Development

The inauguration of these facilities reflects the tamil Nadu government’s continued focus on improving infrastructure in North Chennai. For many years, this region has been identified for focused development to bring it on par with other parts of the city.

Projects like Murasoli Maran Park and the Kalaignar memorial aim to preserve historical legacy while creating modern public spaces.

Public and Officials Attend the Event

Several ministers, government officials, and local representatives attended the inauguration ceremony along with residents from nearby areas. The public welcomed the project as it provides both a green recreational space and a symbolic cultural landmark.
