New Delhi. Efforts are on to promote 'Sweet Revolution' in the country. Sweet revolution means increasing the production of honey. Honey has immunity power against corona infection.
Therefore, instead of sugar, its consumption has increased worldwide. india is the 9th largest exporting country in the world. Last year, the country exported honey worth Rs 716 crore. Now many plans are being worked on to increase its production.
A vision of sweet revolution
Prime minister Narendra Modi has brought forward the vision of The 'Sweet Revolution' through the promotion of beekeeping and allied activities.

Under this, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is emphasizing promoting exports through quality products and expanding the market to new countries to increase the export potential of honey.
80 per cent of the AmericanAt present, India's export of natural honey is mainly dependent on a single market, the US. india is also renegotiating the tax imposed by various countries to promote the export of honey.

9th place in the world
In 2020, 736,266.02 MT of honey was exported worldwide. india ranks 8th and 9th among honey producing and exporting countries respectively.

 In the year 2019, the world's honey production stood at 1721 thousand metric tons. This includes honey obtained from all pollen-related sources, wildflowers, and forest trees.
Effective in preventing corona infectionThere is immense potential for the export of honey, especially during the COVID 19 pandemic as its consumption as an effective immunosuppressant in promoting immunity and as a healthier alternative to sugar has increased globally.  This mission was announced in february 2021 as part of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

Implementation of Sweet Revolution
The objective of NBHM is to promote and develop beekeeping in a scientific manner in the country in a holistic manner to achieve the goal of 'Sweet Revolution' which is being implemented through the National Bee Board (NBB).
