The Russian government is in negotiations with the kerala government about exploring the land for an international production location for the Gamaleya Centre's vaccine. “The Russian government and kerala are in talks for establishing a Sputnik v manufacturing plant in our state,” kerala Industries minister P rajeev told news outlets.

According to a report, the state government may examine lands near Thonnakkal in the thiruvananthapuram district for the facility. According to Rajeev, the initial goal is to file a letter of intent, and KSIDC is working on a draught. "The negotiations are being led by the kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC)," he added.

The Russian government has remained silent on rumours that it intends to market a vaccine developed by its state-owned business, Sputnik v, in the United States. When approached by Reuters, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), which advertises the vaccine, declined to comment. Sputnik v is now produced in South Korea, Brazil, China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, outside of Russia.

The indian government recently told parliament that 188 crore doses are required to inoculate the entire adult population, which is projected at 94 crores. This number would reduce if single-dose jabs are approved. The RDIF has formed manufacturing partnerships with domestic firms such as Serum Institute of india (SII), Gland Pharma, Hetero Biopharma, Panacea Biotec, Stelis Biopharm, Virchow Biotech and Morepen.
